Miss Maribel is a sweet and sporty spice. She’s clever, playful, and loves people. At 43 pounds and almost 2 years old she’s looking for a family she can play with and a place to lay out in the sun.
Her favorite things to do are basking in the sun, rolling in grass, chasing squirrels, meeting new people, tug of war, fetch, and living her best life. Her foster family says that when not playing, Maribel likes to cuddle and watch TV (Murder, She Wrote is a favorite!).
A year ago, Maribel was saved from the euthanasia list in rural North Carolina. After being shot, she required surgery to save her back leg. In the months since, she’s rehabilitated her leg and lived with fosters who have seen her personality and light shine.
Maribel would do best with an active family who can continue her basic obedience training (she’s learning: sit, lay down, stay, and recall). She needs patience as she settles into a new home and schedule. But her foster family says she is a quick learner and just needs a little time to build trust.
She still has the energy of a puppy but is fully house trained and crate trained. She loves to chew but only her toys and bones (no furniture!)
Maribel needs a fenced yard she can run and roll around in - but she is great on leash walks, too. A dog sibling to play tug of war with would be a plus!
